Even though the bout was announced just last week, the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization is already setting its hype machine in motion, hosting a UFC 236 press conference today (Fri., March 1, 2019) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event will be open to the public; however, if you are not fortunate enough to be in “Sin City,” fight fans can watch the UFC 236 press conference live on ESPN+ or in the embedded video player above. UFC 236-related coverage will also appear on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” throughout the evening, according to a press release.

In addition to Holloway and Poirier, the featured fighters in UFC 236’s co-main event, No. 4-ranked Middleweight Kelvin Gastelum and No. 5-ranked Israel Adesanya, will also be on hand to discuss their 185-pound scrap for the division interim belt (details). Of course, UFC President Dana White will also be on hand to emcee the promotional event and likely responding to reporters who say “stupid things.”

UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway missed out on the opportunity to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov once before, and he doesn’t intend on allowing that to happen again.

Holloway (20-4 MMA, 16-4 UFC) will move up to lightweight next month to meet Dustin Poirier (24-5 MMA, 16-4 UFC) for the interim title at UFC 236. With champ Nurmagomedov (27-0 MMA, 11-0 UFC) planning to take most of the year off in solidarity with his teammates also suspended for the infamous UFC 229 brawl, the promotion opted to move forward with the division.

Holloway said he saw the upside right away when he was presented with the chance to take on Poirier..

“Khabib said he wanted to fight me, but he wanted me to prove myself,” Holloway told reporters, including MMAjunkie, at a recent UFC 236 press conference in Las Vegas. “I got Dustin. April 13, I decided to prove myself. I’m going to go out there and prove myself, and when he’s ready to come back, I’ll be ready.”

UFC 236 takes place April 13 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Holloway vs. Poirier headlines the pay-per-view main card, which follows prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.

The matchup is meaningful for Holloway beyond just the interim title at stake. Poirier handed “Blessed” his first career loss at UFC 143 in February 2012, and since then the Hawaiian has flourished into a pound-for-pound great. He has a chance to prove how far he’s come since his octagon debut.

If he wins at UFC 236, all signs point to a unification bout with Nurmagomedov, who Holloway was supposed to fight on short notice at UFC 223 in April 2018 but was ruled out of the bout by the New York State Athletic Commission on weigh-in day due to concerns about his cut.

That last-minute withdrawal was part of a rough 2018 for Holloway, but he closed it out on a high note with a dominant TKO of Brian Ortega to defend his featherweight belt at UFC 231 in December. That 145-pound belt sits on ice for the time being while Holloway tends to business with Poirier. And while the outcome ultimately will decide what happens next, Holloway doesn’t intend to hold up the division.

“After that Ortega fight I had to take some time personally and some business stuff, then they came to me with this fight in April,” Holloway said. “Can’t let it slip through your fingers. At the end of the day, first things first, I got Dustin Poirier, and we’ll talk to the UFC after that. I don’t think Frankie (Edgar) or Jose (Aldo) deserve a champ that’s not willing to defend for a year. After this one I could go back down in the summer. That would be fun. But first things first, April 13.”

UFC 236 Pre-Fight Press Conference Video Live Stream: Max Holloway Vs. Dustin Poirier Fight Card

Here’s how you can watch. UFC 235 Live Watch Now

UFC 236 is more than a month away, but that doesn’t mean the UFC is going to wait to start promoting the event. The four fighters competing in the headlining bouts will be in Las Vegas today for a pre-event press conference.

UFC 236 takes place on April 13 from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The main event of the upcoming card finds featherweight champion Max Holloway meeting Dustin Poirier in a bout which will determine the interim lightweight champion. This bout marks the second meeting between these two. Holloway made his UFC debut against Poirier in 2012. At the time, Holloway was 4-0, while Poirier was 11-1. Poirier won that featherweight fight by submission in the first round.

Holloway is currently riding a 13-fight winning streak. His four most recent bouts have ended via TKO. He has never fought at lightweight with the UFC. Poirier moved up to lightweight in 2015. He’s 8-1-0-1 since that move and riding a streak of three straight TKO wins.

The co-main event of UFC 236 will also have an interim title on the line. That fight features Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum. The winner of that contest will claim the interim middleweight title.

Adesanya is a perfect 16-0. He joined the UFC in 2018 and has racked up a 5-0 record with the promotion. Gastelum, a former welterweight, was set to face Robert Whittaker for Whittaker’s middleweight crown at UFC 234, but that fight was scratched when Whittaker had to undergo emergency surgery for a collapsed bowel and an abdominal hernia. Gastelum is on a two-fight winning streak at middleweight.

The UFC 236 press conference takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, before the UFC 235 ceremonial weigh-ins. You can watch a live stream of the presser right here.

UFC 235: How To Watch On Live Stream, TV And Potential Viewership Competition

UFC 235 is one of those MMA cards that you simply can’t miss if you love the sport. There are a lot of clear favorites, but the names scheduled to be in action make this one of the premier MMA events so far this year.

Here’s how you can watch.

  • Date: Saturday, March 2
  • Location: T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
  • Times: Early Prelims at 6:30 pm, Mid-Level Prelims at 8 pm and Main Card at 10 pm ET
  • TV: Mid-Level on ESPN and Main Card on PPV
  • Live Stream: Early Prelims on UFC Fight Pass, Mid-Level Prelims on ESPN app, Main Card can be ordered on UFC.com, Amazon, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

The Draws

Arguably the greatest fighter in the history of the sport, Jon “Bones” Jones will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against the surging Anthony “Lionheart” Smith. Jones returned from suspension to defeat Alexander Gustafsson via TKO in a highly anticipated rematch in December. The victory landed Jones his third reign as world champion, though the second was technically wiped away because of a failed drug test.

Now that he’s back and seemingly focused on getting the most out of his career, every time Jones steps into the Octagon it’s a treat for fans of martial arts excellence. Smith has earned this title shot, but he comes in a massive underdog. If he were to defeat Jones, it would be one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.

That said, he’s strong, rugged, determined and confident. The fight should be interesting while it lasts.

In the co-main event, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley looks for his fourth consecutive title defense against Kamaru Usman. Woodley hasn’t lost a fight in almost five years and he seems to be getting better, despite being 36 years old.

Usman is an athletic wrestler who could potentially give the champ some issues. It’ll be a tactical battle that hardcore fans of the sport can appreciate, but might draw some boos.

Don’t Sleep On Johnny Walker vs. Misha Cirkunov

Johnny Walker might be the next major star in the light heavyweight division, though Dominick Reyes will have something to say about that. Walker stepped in on short notice to face the once-streaking Misha Cirkunov in an important battle in the 205-pound division.

Walker is huge for the weight class and extremely athletic. He’s the kind of physical presence that would appear to be an interesting opponent for Jones down the line. However, he can’t look past Cirkunov who is looking to continue to rebuild himself after back-to-back losses in 2017.

Cirkunov bounced back with a win over Patrick Cummins in October 2018, and now he’d like to extend his winning ways to the tune of a two-fight win streak.

What Else Will Be On?

Combat sports fan with a budget and appetite for the UFC will likely be ready to tune in on Saturday. The only other combat sports programming that runs through any part of UFC 235 is a rather nondescript Showtime card featuring Erislandy Lara facing Brian Castano.

Aside from combat sports, there is a primetime NBA matchup that sees the Golden State Warriors head east to take on the Philadelphia 76ers. That’s an attractive game, but none of it should prevent ESPN from doing solid numbers with the prelims, or the UFC/ESPN from generating solid PPV buyrates.

UFC 235 : Fight-Card Finalized In All Of Its Breathtaking Glory

UFC 235’s running order has been finalised and by the looks of things, it is shaping up to be one of 2019’s finest showcases.

Two title-fights, a long-awaited debut, a number of fantastic prospects along with a host of insanely tantalising matchups to make up a night of fights as good as any we’ll see this year.

There’s no show like ‘Bones’ show and whether you love him or detest him, UFC 235’s fight-week will certainly be interesting if Jon Jones’ magnetic attraction towards controversy causes the event any bumps along the road.

In Anthony Smith, he has an opponent that virtually everybody is expecting him to run through – something that in itself could see the world of MMA left in shock by the time the night’s action is over – as unlikely as it would seem at this point.

Of course, Tyron Woodley’s fifth defense of his UFC welterweight title will see him take on Kamaru Usman – a man whose physicality could well act as the perfect foil for the seemingly unbeatable champion.

Elsewhere, the long-awaited debut of Ben Askren will see one of the greatest ‘what if’s?’ in MMA history finally answered as he steps in to take on one of the most fearsome fighters in the history of the sport ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler.

Prospects like Song Yadong, Mickey Gall, Weili Zhang, and Charles Byrd all featured on the undercard but perhaps the most promising fighter on the roster today, Zabit Magomedsharipov, takes a huge step up in competition to face top-ranked contender Jeremy Stephens on the main-card.

Have a look at UFC 235 in all of its beauty below:

Watch Now Live UFC 234 Click Here

UFC 234, which happens at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, is headlined by a middleweight title bout pitting reigning champion ‘Bobby Knuckles’ Robert Whittaker versus ‘No nickname’ Kelvin Gastelum. This is Whittaker’s first title defense since he claimed the interim belt with a win over Yoel Romero in 2017. Whittaker’s interim status was upgraded to undisputed shortly after.

He beat Romero last year, too, but that was a non title belt thanks to some rogue ounces on Romero. For Gastelum this is his first title fight and it comes off of a two fight winning streak where he dispatched of Michael Bisping and Jacare Souza. Will he taste gold after the first chance he gets or will Whittaker keep the belt in Australia.

The co-main event presents another middleweight clash. Here the rising star Israel Adesanya will take on living legend Anderson Silva. Adesanya, one of last year’s most hyped prospects, will likely be in title contention if he is able to knock off the biggest name that has ever stood opposite him. For Silva, he’s just fighting for bragging rights at this stage of his career. Will the Spider show he still has some venom or are we about to enter the Stylebender Era?

The rest of the PPV card leaves a lot to be desired. It’s rounded out by Rani Yahya vs. Ricky Simon (bantamweight), Montana De La Rosa vs. Nadia Kassem (flyweight), and Jim Crute vs. Sam Alvey (light heavyweight).

The prelim card is on ESPN. That’s headlined by Devonte Smith vs. Dong Hyun Ma (lightweight). It also features matches between Shane Young and Austin Arnett (featherweight), Kai Kara-France vs. Raulian Paiva (flyweight), and Teruto Ishihara vs. Kyung Ho Kang (bantamweight).

The early prelims go down at 6:15PM ET on UFC Fight Pass. Those include Lando Vannata vs. Marcos Rosa (lightweight), Callan Potter vs. Jalin Turner (lightweight), and Wuliji Buren vs. Jonathan Martinez (bantamweight).
